Gerald Heckart Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Vernon Heckart, 77, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 9, 2015. He was the son of the late Vernon and Helen (Stadtfeld) Heckart. He was born Aug. 6, 1937 in Remus, Mich. He moved to Midland in 1950. He worked at The Dow Chemical Co. for almost 35 years when he retired in 1992. He loved wood working, Indian history and artifacts, hunting, and fishing. He married Joyce (Woodcock) Heckart Dec. 1, 1970.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Jeff Heckart; daughters, Jodi Heckart, Deborah (Allen) Upleger, and Margo (Dave) Yarnell; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral and committal services for Jerry will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home,1200 W. Wheeler St. The Rev. John Pohanka will officiate. Burial will be in Homer Cemetery. Jerry's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family.
