Joan M. Glesner

Joan M. Glesner, 78, of Midland, died early Wednesday morning, Aug. 8, 2007, at the MidMichigan Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1928, in Midland, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie (Shaver) Harter. She attended Midland schools. Joan married John H. Glesner on March 19, 1949, in Midland. He predeceased her on Jan. 17, 1983. She had worked for many years at Kroger's in Midland. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, David (Dawn) Glesner of Midland and Brian (Debbie) Glesner of Sanford; her grandchildren, Heather (JD) Cook, Chad Glesner, Melissa (Josh) Brandt, Shawna Wales and Erica Wales; great-grandchildren, Kaidyn Foerster and Reagan Cook; her brothers, Jim Wright and Tom (Goldie) Wright, all of Midland; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Glesner of Midland and Luella Glesner of Sanford; and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was predeceased by her stepfather, James Roy Wright; one brother, Kenneth Wright; one sister, Roberta Glesner; two sons, John J. Glesner and Steven Glesner; one daughter, Peggy Jo Glesner; and her grandson, Nathan Glesner.

Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. Pastor Fred Becknell of the Midland Missionary Church will officiate, with burial in Midland City Cemetery. Joan's family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
