Dr. Joseph Gabler Kirkpatrick

1937 - 2015

Dr. Joseph Gabler Kirkpatrick, 77, of Fayetteville, previously of Harrisburg, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Chambersburg. Joe was born in Scotland, PA to Robert B. and Violet Gabler Kirkpatrick, both deceased, on July 21, 1937.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert B. Jr and Dr. William H. Kirkpatrick.
He was a 1955 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1960 with a Bachelors Degree and in 1964 with a Dental Degree. He received his Masters Degree in Orthodontics from Temple University in 1966. During the next two years he served in Japan for the US Air Force as captain.
He set up practice in Colonial Park, Harrisburg in 1969 and retired in 1992.
Joe was a member of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, King Street Church and the Truth Seekers Sunday school class.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ruth Byrns Kirkpatrick, one daughter, Anne E., wife of Eric Gaumer of Frederick, MD, one son, Andrew J., husband of Amanda of Gaithersburg, MD, three granddaughters, Chloe and Rowan Gaumer and Lennon Kirkpatrick: two sisters Margaret Nicklas and Joanne Shira, two sisters-in-law, Janet Kirkpatrick and Sandra Kirkpatrick and numerous nieces and nephews.
He loved the Lord, his family, music, the mountains, skiing, hunting and fishing.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 with Pastor Ronald Cook officiating at King Street Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society online at donate.lls.org or to the charity of your choice.
