Trudy was my Godmother and whether I was living in Florida or here in Texas, she never forgot about me. I will miss hearing from her on special occassions and our all to infrequent phone calls. I know she is celebrating her graduation to eternity with my Mom and Dad. "...we are confident, I say,and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." 2 Cor.5:8

Dear Aunt Gert
You left us far too soon. I remember so many happy times with you. The beautiful picture book you made for me I always look at it and remember how thoughtful a gift that was. I also remember how you went to so much trouble & time to add to my "Barney Lighthouse" collection. You touched my life, Bob, Rob and Gretchen. How pleased you were when my grandaughter was named Cecelia, you said I hope she grows up to be just like her name sake, Mommy. All our long conversations on the phone, your time at my home on LBI, your advice even though I didn't always agree with it. You truly cared about everything I was doing and my family. Thanks for all the memories.
Love Ya

Gert was my Godmother. Just as importantly, she was my Moms best friend. Every Christmas Eve she stopped by our house, it was a tradtion of the holiday for our family. My mom died in 78 and sad to say, we did not see much of each other after that. Gert never forgot a birthday even when I reached the age that I wished she would have. We exchanged letters maybe once or twice a year but that had been the extend of our contact these past few years. I am not one for reading the obits but this is one time I wish I had known. One bright spot is that I am sure that Gert and my mom have been catching up on the good ole' days. She was just a nice lady and will be missed.

Ms. Murph was a huge inspiration and role model through out my entire life. From Girl Scouts to Resurrection Parish, she was always there with kind words and a warm welcome. Murph toughed so many lives, always showing us how to live through her life and actions. She put so much effort into making our teenage years so meaniningful and fun-filled. The best gift to Ms. Murph is to look around at all the young women whose lives she touched and see joy, beauty and appreciation of life that she passed on. Ms. Murph was a gift to all of us; maybe it very appropriate that she returned to God at Christmas.

Aunt Gert:

You have been a important part of my life from infancy to the end of your days. I will always remember the time we spent together, the trips we took, and all the pictures you were always taking. I loved you when you we with us and I love you now. Say hello to my Mom for me.

"It's a Wonderful Life" is a favorite movie of mine and in it Clarence, the Angel, reminds George of how many lives he has touched and how there would be an awful hole without him around. Miss Murph was a gift to so many of us and I am thankful she was a part of my life. She "truly did have a wonderful life!"

Thanks Miss Murph for being such an important part of my life growing up. You gave me trips to Mexico and Disney. We spent two summers canoeing down the Delaware with Mr. Boone. I have such wonderful memories. You and Girl Scouts made my teenage years the best. You were and always be THE WOMAN!!!!!

MISS MURPH WAS AN AMAZING WOMAN. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE HER IN MY LIFE AS A GIRL SCOUT LEADER . I HOLD MANY FOND MEMORIES IN MY HEART FROM ALL SHE DID FOR ME AND SO MANY OF THE GIRLS OF RESURRECTION PARRISH. SHE KEPT MOST OF US ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW HELPING GUIDE US TO THE WOMEN WE HAVE BECOME. I WILL TREASURE HER ALWAYS.

Ms Murph, Thank you for being there for all of us. You were always "in touch". I owe much of who I am today to you. I pass Piper Hill Ski Slope everyday, I am actually within walking distance... and fondly recall one of my many "firsts" because you made the experience possible. Thank you for having faith in me. There are so many opportunities and experiences that I would never had if it had not been that I was lucky and blessed to have you in my life. Thank you.

Trudy,
So many of us have great memories because of you. I was one of the lucky ones to enjoy the camping trips, Disney, Mexico, and the amazing canoe adventure down the Delaware. (Thanks for always having Rice Krispies for me for breakfast, since you knew I wouldn't eat anything else.)
As teens you were our leader but as adults you were our friend. You will surely be missed by my family.

Ms. Murphy was a role model for me and so many other young women in Girl Scouting. I learned how to run an effective meeting from her. I learned to be fair and honest. I learned that humor is essential. Thanks for all your time and dedication, Trudy. And for the birthday card every year. Love Peg

Ms. Murph never had children of her own, but she touched the lives of so many girls in so many ways, all of them good. I will cherish the last birthday card I received from her, and miss the one I don't get next year. Ms. Murph has earned her place in Heaven, where she will surely be watching over us all. God bless. Love, Dianne

Dear Ms. Murph. she was such a huge influence on my life. She was the best teacher a young woman could ever have. I have never forgotten her. My husband always wanted to know who Miss Smurf was? I wondered why I didn't receive a Christmas card this year. First time in over 30 years that happened! I'll never forget singing in the cafeteria of Reso during cadets and camping at Laughing Waters, of course (jumping up and down on the do dad bridge). But the best was the Boones Bunnies. Her and Paul Boone were a force to be reckoned with, for sure. Ms. Gertrude Murphy left an indelible impression on many young women and will never be forgotten.

I am so thankful that you were my Mom's dear friend because that meant you were also in my life. You had many "daughters" in Girl Scouts and you were a wonderful "Mother" to us all.
We will miss you much.
Love,
Kathleen

Ms. Murphy was my girl scout leader for many years. I remember her as a dedicated leader and have great memories of our many camping trips to Camp Laughing Waters and our canoe team the "Boones Bunnies". All this was many years ago but the memories live on. Thank you Ms. Murphy for everything. Love Elaine (Ziccardi) Fanelli

What can you say about a person who touched so many? Countless lives were influenced by Trudy. I was one of the lucky ones who "grew up" with her and will always remember her with fondness and admiration. We have all lost a most special woman. Rest well, Trudy, you deserve it. xxoo Mary Ann (Batty)
