KENNETH FORDHAM Obituary

FORDHAM

DR. KENNETH C., 83, died in Naples FL. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Valley Forge Presbyterian Church in King of Prussia. The family will be greeting people at 1:30 P.M.
Ken, born in Regensburg, Germany, was the second son of Carl and Marie. His family was forced out of Nazi Germany at the beginning of WWII. He earned his biology degree from Ursinus College and dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. During his service with the Army Dental Corp, he married Beverly N. Johnson of Marple Township, PA. He went on to have a 50 year career in private practice.
His experiences as a child left him making all that met him feeling better for having been in his company. He was instrumental in introducing the use of nitrous oxide for patient relaxation. His greatest contri-bution was centered on whole body chemistry. He founded the Fordham-Page Clinic, a non-profit organization, dedicated to improving the lives of his patients nutritionally.
In additional to his wife of 58 years Beverly, he is survived by a brother, John; children Ken Jr., Michael, Patti and Jeff, and 9 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or Avow Hospice, in Naples, FL.

Dr. Fordham was my dentist most of my teen/young adult life. I thought you would enjoy a cute Dr. Fordham story. I was 13 (headstrong)but I must have felt comfortable enough with Dr. Fordham to have shared with him that I was going to pierce my own ears that day - in fact, I had the earrings in my pocketbook. Dr. Fordham, obviously caring about me and not wanting me to injure myself, said, "I will pierce your ears". He did not ask my mother who was waiting in the waiting room - I believe, correctly, assessing that I was going to do this anyway. So, he promptly used his drill and pierced my ears. They are still pierced to this day - never had an infection. He will always have a soft spot in my heart. As an aside, my own daughter is a dentist in midtown Manhattan. I haven't asked her if she's pierced anyone's ears. Blessings to your family on losing such a wonderful man. Carol Moyer Haldy
