DAVID, Nov. 18, 2014, formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ and Pompano Beach, FL. Husband of the late Evelyn Appell. Father of Roz (Robert Purdy) Appell Purdy and Lynda Appell. Grandfather of Sara Millett. Relatives and friends are invited Fri. beginning 10:30 A.M. to PLATT MEMORIAL CHAPELS INC., 2001 Berlin Rd., Cherry Hill NJ where Funeral Services will begin promptly at 11 A.M. Int. Crescent Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ. Shiva will be observed at the home of Roslyn Appell Purdy and Robert Purdy. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., www.heart.org or MusiCares, www.grammy.org/musicares

Dear Roz,
I was so sorry to learn of your father's passing. He was a dear friend of my father's, Doug King. They now rest together among the "stars" where I am sure they are fondly remembering all of the memories of their life's work together. Please know I am fondly thinking of you at this time. Dave was in my life as far back as I can remember. Dave and his wife Evelyn were best friends with my parents. Dave was a music talent of the highest order and a music legend. He was also a beautiful loving person. I have so many wonderful memories of Dave. I loved him. My deepest heart felt condolences to Roz and Lyn.

I grew up a few doors away, never put the name on the records to the name of the neighbor until the early 90s... as in 20 years after I left high school. I really do regret not have ever personally thanked Mr. Appell for the great music.... the house band he led at Cameo was ferocious! Well, it's never too late... THANK YOU for all the great sides...
