DANIEL TOLAN Obituary
DANIEL J., age 23, of Mayfair, suddenly on March 11, 2015. Beloved son of Edward and Eileen Tolan (nee Giblin); devoted brother of Edward P. (Jennifer) and Shannon Tolan (Gregory Aguado); loving grand-son of Frances Tolan; uncle of Makenna James Tolan; also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Relatives, friends and employees of St. Joseph's Manor are invited to attend his Viewing Friday eve, 6 to 9 P.M. and his Funeral Saturday morning, 8:45 to 9:45 A.M., at JOHN F. FLUEHR AND SONS INC., 3301-15 Cottman Ave. Funeral Mass, St. Matthew Church, 10:30 A.M. Rite of Committal private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Danny's memory may be made to the Joey F. Casey Memorial Foundation, 8121 Cresco Ave., Phila. PA 19136.

We were so sad to just hear of Danny's passing. He was so nice and worked so hard at St. Joseph's Manor taking care of the elderly. He is so missed! We will keep Danny and his family in our prayers! St. Joseph's Manor won't be the same without him.

To the Tolan Family
I wanted each of you to know that you are continuously remembered in my prayers and thoughts. I was honored to share in Danny's Mass on Saturday and to experience such an out pouring of love on Friday Evening.
Your Son and Brother touch so many lives in his 23 years. I was privileged to share ministry with Danny at St. Joseph's Manor. He truly lived the Mission and Values of the Sisters of Holy Redeemer and Holy Redeemer Health System. He cared for all those whom he met along the way everyday with such dignity and respect. Everyone he met received his total presence which included a HUG and a SMILE.
Danny brightened my days especially when I was faced with challenges in my Ministry as a Pastoral Care Chaplain. Danny seemed to show up when I needed it most. He companioned so many residents on their journey and I believe that Our Redeemer companioned Him on his finally journey.
I loved him as a friend and a brother and I thank God for His presence in my life at St Joseph's Manor.
I will never forget him and I want to thank you for sharing him with us.

I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of meeting Danny many times while visiting my mother at St. Joe's Manor. She talked about him frequently while we were on the phone as well. He always brought a smile to her face, took her to the gift shop, out to restaurants, did her nails, etc. He was wonderful to the residents from what I've witnessed. My mother and I are deeply saddened that we all lost such a great person. He will surely be missed and I will always be grateful to him for the care he showed my mother.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mom suffers from Alzheimer's and lives at SJM. Danny always took care of her and made sure she attended all the events. He was such a ray of light in what was an often sad and depressing place. My heart breaks for your family. Eileen I am extremely sorry to hear about Danny's passing, and cannot imagine the pain and suffering it has caused you and your family. I had the pleasure of meeting Danny, when my father was admitted to St. Joseph's Manor. Danny was the rec aide on the Evergreen's unit. His personality filled the room and he was loving and patient with all the residents. Even though he was transferred out of the unit, I occasionally saw him and his presence had the same effect on me each time, which was to lift my spirits. It is truly amazing that someone I knew so little could have affected me in such a way. His light in this world will be missed.

Dear Tolan Family,
I am truly saddened by the loss of your Angel.
My Mom is a resident at St Joseph Manor and Danny would always come over to residents and family members with a huge hug. HE FELT.
He felt and knew what people needed.Danny would hold their hand, hug, and touch their face. He would do an Irish, Italian,accent whichever he felt would make a resident feel at home.
He treated each of them with respect and honor. Amazing, someone so young could understand so much. My Mom would say, Danny helped me today and that was many times.
Danny kept his own Grandmother in his heart, he would tell me about her in the nursing home. He was also comforting me, that it was ok.
Danny was a sensitive guy and for that HE FELT. My Mom was truly Blessed to have had Danny, he took care of my Mom, the details that I was not able to be there for every day. I look at the picture posted here in this guest book,and it looks like there are two brown wings, behind Danny. I pray that you receive the grace and comfort from the Lord in knowing that Danny was and always will be in God's heart... God worked through Danny.

I first got to know Danny when he would sit and watch his brother and sister play in soccer games for St. Matt's. Little did I know years later I would meet up with him again at St. Joseph's Manor. The day I walked my dad into St Joseph's Manor was the day I met Danny and that infectious smile of his.He had such genuine warmth and compassion for the residents.He made it impossible not to love him.Only after weeks did we realize that we had some ties to a few of the same people which only gave us more to talk about.
