I was especially saddened to hear of Mrs. Crains passing for it brings an end to my ties with South Norfolk. I believe everyone there knew her for one reason or the other, her kids, grandkids, bingo, through Mr. Crains affiliation with sports. I practically grew up in her house being she lived right on the corner from me. I remember how she used to laugh and play with all of us and how we had to shut up when her soaps were on, with a tv in every room so as not to miss any one show, long before a thing called DVR was invented. I still tried to go by and she her from time to time after moving away. She was more like a mom to me than a friend. Even through her sickness she always had that laugh and that smile that I truly will never forget. She was a loving and compassionate human being who never asked anything for herself but gave so freely of herself to others. May she rest in peace and to her family may you all cherish your memories of her, like so many of her other so called kids will.

Some of the best memories of my childhood are at the Crain house with Mrs. Crain. She was so giving and funny. I loved her like a Mom and she treated me like one of her children. There are so many stories and memories. I think of her every year when The Jerry Lewis Telethon comes on and wonder if she is watching it and crying. I also remember her laugh. It would fill a room. I am so sorry she is gone, but she left a mark on everyone who ever knew her and loved her. My deepest sympathy to my best child hood friend Barbara, and all the kids and family.

Mrs. Crain, or Momma as I called her, was one of a kind. She loved and took care of so many. She always had a spot for me at Thanksgiving, Christmas and any time I wanted to be there. I loved her very much. Even though I have moved away, I still looked at that house on Rogers St. every time I passed and could recall a different memory every time. She loved her grandchildren so much. My daughter Angel even calls her Granny. She was a wonderful, fun loving, and caring person, and I will miss her very much. I know Daddy is happy now up there because his Pattie Ann is there. To the Crain family...love you all.
