Robert Blankenship Obituary
Chesapeake - Robert Wayne "Bob" Blankenship, 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, after a long period of declining health. He was born on July 21, 1940 in Roanoke, Va. to the late Roy Earon and Mable Biller Blankenship; and lived most of his life in Portsmouth and Chesapeake. Bob attended Portsmouth Public Schools; and was a proud U. S. Air Force veteran. He was employed by the Belt Line Railroad, Project Lifesaver and operated an Employee Assistance Program.
Bob is survived by his children, Pamela Blankenship Peele and her husband John, Robin Blankenship Smith and her husband Brian, Robert W. Blankenship Jr., Anita Green and her husband Dwight, Charlie Wilkins and Bobby Wilkins; his former wife, constant companion and caregiver Lou Blankenship; a sister, Dawn Blankenship Bray and her husband Richard; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Dr. Gene Primm. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 – 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Lifesaver International, 815 Battlefield Blvd. S., Chesapeake, 23322.
