Beryl Roberts Obituary
Chesapeake - Beryl Jean Hodges Roberts transitioned into eternal life on March 30, 2015 in her home surrounded by her five children by her bedside She was born to the late Bernice Scott Hodges Strong and Edward Hodges, Jr. in Portsmouth, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Edwin C. Roberts,Sr.
Mrs. Roberts retired from Portsmouth as a Social Worker. She was a graduate of I. C. Norcom High School, received a BS from Virginia Union University and a M.Ed from Howard University.
She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Edwin C. Roberts, Jr. (Wendy), Edward Franklin Roberts, Georgia Roberts Logan (Raymond), Beryl Roberts Plum, Lydia Roberts Coco, 13, grandchildren, 13, great grandchildren, a sister, Sandra Ann Godley, sister-in-law, Ramona McDaniel , brother-in-law, Spurgeon Roberts, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Saturday, April 4, 2015 11:00 a.m. Fourth Baptist Church. The interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk, VA. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 to 7p.m. The body will be in church at 10:00a.m. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing her. We wish to express our sympathy for the loss of our beloved sister in law that we considered a sister. She was a very lovely, kind, & compassionate person who always welcome our visits. She is with God now & also our beloved brother never again to separate. We are very sorry we could not be with you in this very difficult time & may God bless and sustain you. We love you. My family came to know Mrs. Roberts through her husband, Edwin. My Step-Father, Spurgeon Streeter was Mr. Roberts' Uncle. My brothers and sisters always felt welcomed in the Roberts' household. Mrs. Roberts was a kind and loving individual and she will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Beryl Roberts was a beautiful spirited woman who was very loving and given. She and my mom went to IC Norcom HS and were on the cheerleading squad together. I recall the first time we visited her and her family at home, she welcomed us and made us feel like it was our home. She will be missed dearly! My condolences to the family.
