Patsy Edwards Bolton

Chesapeake - Patsy Edwards Bolton, 72, died surrounded by loved ones on Thursday June 29, 2017.

Patsy was born on May 4, 1945 in Raleigh, NC to the late Melba and Jack Edwards of Smithfield, NC. She graduated from Smithfield High school in 1965, where she was homecoming queen and a basketball star, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1969 and received a Master's degree from ODU in 1990. She taught elementary school in Chesapeake City schools for thirty five years. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of forty four years James "Jimmy" Bolton in 2014 and her beloved brother Preston Edwards in 1995. Patsy was truly loved by everyone lucky enough to know her. She was kind to everyone she ever met. Her beautiful smile, vivacity and kind heart were remarkable. She had a love of life and a contagious vitality. She loved to work in her garden, go to the beach and spend joyful time with her family and friends. She will be missed so much by all who loved her.

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Eleise Theuer and her husband Jim; and her two Grandsons James Bolton Theuer and Thomas Edwards Theuer of Norfolk; her sisters Charlotte Hoyt of Four Oaks, NC and Janice Edwards of Raleigh, NC; her nieces and nephews Stephanie Hoyt of Jacksonville, FL, Fred Hoyt and wife Cathy of Smithfield, NC, Jennie Rebecca DePhillips and husband Keith of Marblehead, MA, J.P. Edwards and wife Mary of Raleigh, NC; and her sister-in-law Jennie Grimes and husband Franklin of Smithfield, NC, their families and many close friends.

The family is very grateful to Beth Sholom Village, Tidewater Hospice and Palliative Care, The Emergency Room nurses and physicians at Norfolk General Hospital and Sentara Hospice House, who all cared for Patsy with gentleness and love.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3rd in the Chesapeake Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1416 Cedar Rd., with a reception following at Patsy's home. The family requests that memorial donations be made in Patsy's honor to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be offered to the family through www.hdoliver.com.

Patsy was an incredible woman! She was a kind and giving person who enjoyed working in her yard. We are neighbors and our daughter had Patsy as a teacher. We are saddened by her passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family members. She will be missed! ❤
