MACKINAW - Betty Barrick Dietrich, 75, of rural Mackinaw, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at her home.
Betty was born Nov. 30, 1935, in Lilly to Leslie and Marie Callahan Barrick. She married Bob L. Dietrich on Aug. 28, 1955, in Mackinaw. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Mark Dietrich of Minier, Chris (Sharon) Dietrich of Minier and Robert (Greta) Dietrich of Glenarm; one daughter-in law, Susan Dietrich of Franklin, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Justin Dietrich, Caleb Dietrich, Jordan Dietrich, Samantha Dietrich, Matt Campbell and Tony Campbell; two great-grandchildren, William Campbell and Hazel Campbell; and one brother, Jim (Charlotte) Barrick of Mackinaw.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Betty was a homemaker and farmette.
She was a member of the Mackinaw Garden Club.
She had worked for Olympia School District 11 years as a baker and food service manager at Danvers Grade School.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier. There she served on the church board and was active in the church choir and Memo Meals for the community.
Betty is remembered as an artist, avid pinochle player, bird watcher and gardener.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Minier. The Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at St. John's United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in Minier Cemetery. Haensel Funeral Home in Mackinaw is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Betty to St. John's United Church Fellowship Hall, 302 N. Maple Ave., Minier, IL, 61759 or OSF St. Joseph Medical Center Hospice, 211 Landmark, Suite D3, Normal, IL 61761.
We were blessed to have Betty as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her Irish eyes will always be smiling.
