George Ramsay Obituary

GEORGE E. RAMSAY, SR. Hobart, Indiana George E. Ramsay, Sr., age 87, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. George was a lifelong Hobart resident and retired from E.J.&E Railroad at U.S. Steel in Gary with 32 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. George is survived by 3 children: George E. Ramsay, Jr. of Louisville, KY, Carol J. Ramsay of Cedar Lake, IN, Joan E. (Robert) Hess of Tulsa, OK; 2 grandchildren: Karla Anne & Kirsten Anne Hess; brother, Robert (Gail) Ramsay of Florida; sisters, Verna Shaw and Phyllis McDonald, both of Portage, Joyce (Bill) Stanfield, of Hobart, Beverly (Jerry) Fitzgerald, of Portage; aunt, Audrey Goody of Joliet, IL; nieces and nephews. His wife, Eleanor J. Ramsay, brother, Donald, and sister, Esther Bivens, all preceded him in death. Memorials are preferred to the Horton VNA Hospice Center. Funeral services will be Monday, October 15, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, with Rev. Dennis Ticen officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation is Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. (219) 942-2109 or online www.reesfuneralhomes.com
