From the time we first met at Van Buren and throughout the years, the Rev. Dr. Johnson was always a man of integrity and a true friend. I especially appreciated how he always visited with my family members whenever they were in the hospital.
I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family. Alfred will be sorely missed.

I'll always remember Alfred as a smiling gentleman who was the consummate musician. He and my Godsister Claudia received music lessons from the incomparable Dr Whittimore. Alfred was usually finishing his lesson when I arrived with Claudia.
Such a man of God was Alfred. Surely his soul resides among the other angels who are making joyful music in Heaven. To his family I offer my sincere condolences and prayers during your bereavement.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Johnson Family on the passing of such a wonderful and beloved MAN.
The Rev.Dr.Alfred Johnson (Rev.Alfred) as I came to call him has been a part of the Scott Family since as far back as I can remember...from His Mom and my Mom working together for Dr.Moore; to visiting with him when I would be back in Gary at Methodist Hospital to see my realtives that work there along with him when he was serving as the Hosptial Chaplin... to the holiday meals and of course Christmas mornings when he would always come over to have breakfast and help put together our toys(LOL...yeah we still had toys when I was like 10 or 11)...the events you remember that make such a lasting imprint on your life...Rev.Alfred is one of those events in my life. He will always be a blessing and a joy in my memories and those of my brothers Eric and Alan Scott.
Rev.Alfred, you will be missed but you will never be forgotten.
"be at peace in HIS HOUSE"

My thoughts and prayers are with the personal family and church family of Rev. Dr. Alfred Johnson. He went to Tolleston School with my brothers. He's been a great friend, counselor, and Pastor to our family. From my parents, to my brothers, me, husbands, to my children. Rev. Johnson has been working in the community he grew up in and cared so much for, for years. We will all miss him. Until we see him again...may God Bless his personal and church family during this difficult time.

Dear Family.
It is with a heavy heart that I write a condolence letter. Alfred was such a warm and comforting person in times of need. It's unbearable to think that he is no longer with us in physical form. But,it is a joy to know his spirit lives on...
I feel blessed to have had Alfred in my life. He was truly a "gentle man."
