Bernice Osterholt Obituary
Bernice was born May 20, 1917, on a farm near Bristol, S.D., to Willis and Janie (Richmond) Hartsough. She had two older brothers, Harvey and Wilbur Hartsough. Bernice attended school in Webster, S.D. After graduation, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for two years and then moved to Aberdeen, S.D., where she met and married Walter Osterholt on Aug. 3, 1941. Bernice and Walter had two children, Sharon and Walter, Jr. Bernice was employed by the First National Bank in Aberdeen until the family moved to Austin in 1948.
While in Austin, Bernice worked at the Sterling Walgreen Drug Store for many years. In 1965 Bernice and Walt purchased a farm near Rose Creek. They joined Little Cedar Lutheran Church in 1968. Bernice worked at the Rose Creek Elementary School, Adams Health Care Auxiliary and at Little Cedar Lutheran Church WELCA and Circle quilting. In 1983, they moved to Adams.
Bernice loved hunting, fishing, raising miniature dachshunds, growing flowers, playing bridge and all her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, grandson, Nicholas, and brothers, Harvey and Wilbur Hartsough.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Douglas) Perlick of Buffalo; son, Wally (Sandra) Osterholt of St. Cloud; five grandchildren, Matt (Stacey) Osterholt, Laura Osterholt, Cassandra Kampa, Tammy (Mike) McHugh and Terri Perlick; and four great-grandchildren, Elena, Allyson and Wyatt Osterholt and Isabelle Landwehr.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, with the Rev. Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery in Adams. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service on Thursday morning.
The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
