Lorraine was born June 11, 1922, in Newburg Township of Fillmore County, to Louis and Mildred (Hellickson) Amdahl.

She attended Country school in Newburg. Upon completion of eighth grade, Lorraine went with her family to Waukesha, Wis., where she worked. She moved back to Newburg and started working at the Newburg Store, which is where she met her future husband.

In 1989, Lorraine moved to Mabel where she lived at Cherrywood Estates, The Meadows, and then in 2010 became a resident of Green Lea Manor. She was a lifelong member of the Newburg Methodist Church. Lorraine taught Sunday school and held various offices in the United Methodist Women Organizations, the Newburg Cemetery Association, was financial secretary for the Newburg Church and was a volunteer for Green Lea Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton; brother, Lyle Amdahl, Sr.; and sister, Marjorie
