Balkansky, Judy

Judy Balkansky, age 71, of Appleton and The Villages, FL, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 after a quick but gallant fight with cancer at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL. Judy was born in Milwaukee on February 1, 1944 to the late Louis and Rose (Feinberg) Riches. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Judy and her husband David just celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage on September 3rd. She worked as a preschool teacher here in Appleton for many years at St. Thomas More. Judy was a devoted volunteer for the American Red Cross, WomanHeart and many committees at Moses Montefiore Synagogue.

She is survived by her loving husband David Balkansky, Appleton and The Villages, FL; daughter Leslie (Brian) Bauman, of Alexandria, VA and their daughter Gracie; daughter Staci (Michael) Daugird, of Waunakee, WI and their daughter Alexis. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Peggy Dobbs and brother Michael Riches.

Funeral services for Judy will take place at 2 PM on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Friday from 1 PM until the time of service. Interment will take place at Moses Montefiore Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to either the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross in Judy's name.
