JAMES DIRLING Obituary
Age 72, of Brentwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 28, 1943, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late James and Helen (Gardner) Dirling. James was a proud member of the Air National Guard, and was very active in the International order of DeMolay. He was a retired Postmaster from the Gastonville, PA Post Office. James was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and greatly enjoyed fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn (Dirling) Ray. James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila R. (Wilson) Dirling; sons, James A. (Amy) Dirling, Jr., Jeff A. (Victoria) Dirling; daughter, Julie A. (James, Jr.) Lancia; grandchildren, Rebecca and Zachary Dirling, Ryan (Alex) DeBiase; great-granddaughter, Rose DeBiase. Family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 5:00 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, PA 15236. At the conclusion of the services at the funeral home, the family will be gathering at Calabria's at 3107 Library Rd., Castle Shannon, PA 15234 where all are invited to share in a time of food and fellowship. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James' name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice that supports depression research and treatment.

So sorry to hear that Jim passed away, and our prayers go out to the family at this time. Jim always had a great smile and was one of the ones that brightens the day when you see him in the room. Will always remember all the great moments at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church when we were growing up. We know that God has Jim in his plan now. Due to health problems unable to make it to the funeral home. Would love to hear from your family.
