McELWAIN PHYLLIS A.
88, of Independence Court Monroeville, and formerly of Syracuse, NY, peacefully left this earth and entered eternal life on Tuesday April 15, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Jay L. McElwain, Phyllis was born April 2, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late George E. and Pearle D. Ongley. A graduate of Mt. Holyoke College and Boston University, she taught physical education at the University of New Hampshire. Phyllis will be fondly remembered as a lover of outdoor activities and a passionate pursuer of the art of dancing. She had also shown a great generosity towards numerous charitable organizations. Survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved long-time friend and caregiver Ning An and his family. A visitation will be held Monday April 21, 2008 from 1 to 2 PM in the EGGER FUNERAL HOME 15 W. Big Spring Ave. Newville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 2 Pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Newville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
