VICKI TUJAGUE Obituary
Of Brentwood, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Beloved wife of Robert Burns for over 24 years; daughter of the late Geneva (Hall) and Arthur Tujague of Mountainside, NJ; beloved mother of Gordon (Amy) and Erik; loving grandmother of Sarah. Vicki served her community as a licensed social worker for Allegheny County (Children, Youth and Family Services) for over 32 years protecting many families and children. Vicki graduated Drake University in Des Moines, IA, with a bachelor's and attained her master's degree in Social work from the University Of Pittsburgh. Vicki enjoyed a long membership in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) as "Baroness Serena of the Peacemakers." She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, an active theater participant, sorority sister of Alpha Lambda Delta National Women's Honor Sorority, the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Fraternity, the Zeta Thi Eta National Women's Honor Sorority for Drama Majors and the Theta Alphi Phi Drama Fraternity, a devoted member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Shadyside, and member of the Chaine Des Rotisseurs Capitre De Pittsburgh. Vicki enjoyed world travel, epicurean experiences and celebrating high tea. She showed champion dogs, having participated in the Westminster Kennel Club. Vicki was energetic, loved life and will be dearly missed by her beloved family and countless friends. Family and friends will be welcomed on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon 412-531-5100. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock in Laughlin Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, to honor Vicki's memory and wishes, contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association http://www.mda.org/ 400 Penn Center Boulevard #524, Pgh., PA 15235, 412-823-3094.

I will miss Vicki (Serena) even though it's been many years. She was always the kindest person, unflappable in the face of anything, generous in her home and heart. She lives on in the recipes she shared, and the wonderful memories that will always be with me. My sympathies to the family.

When I arrived in Pittsburgh in the late 70s, Vicki invited me to share her home in Squirrel Hill for a few months. I recall her taking me to various events and inviting me and my daughter to perform at one of the SCA Court functions. What a delightful, kind, and generous-spirited person she was.

I was truly sorry to hear of Vicki's passing, and sorrier still that work prevented me from attending the visitation yesterday and the funeral today. Wishing strength and peace to her family and friends, especially Bob, Erik, Gordon, Amy, and Sarah.

As Serena, I knew Vicki for decades - since the "Fruity Cobbler" first opened at the SCA's Pennsic War. The last times I saw here were both sad occasions but still joyful in seeing her and part of the family - both in Ottawa and at Cooper's Lake for the memorials for Ellan Corson (Countess Elaina of Oaklawn). She was a wonderful woman with a huge heart and will be sorely missed. Condolences and hugs to the family in this time of pain.

In deepest sympathy, Vicki was one of the few which left the world a better place than she found it. Her impact and the lives she improved can never be fully measured, but it was tremendous to be sure.
