WILLIAM ECKENRODE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 28, 2016.
ECKENRODE WILLIAM J., Jr.
Died Sunday, at the age of 57, from a long battle with liver disease. Mr. Eckenrode is survived by two children, Ryan Eckenrode, Christine Eckenrode; two sisters; one brother; and his parents. From a young age, Mr. Eckenrode was a high energy person who loved his family, friends and the little league teams he coached. Mr. Eckenrode was recognized as an extremely humorous and loving individual that people flocked to be around. His piercing blue eyes, energetic smile, and witty charm were cherished by many. In the last years of his life, Mr. Eckenrode slowed down a bit as his battle with liver disease limited his mobility and cognizance. Mr. Eckenrode was very passionate about helping others dealing with depression and substance abuse. He wanted to be remembered for helping others, and it's something his children believe he can do even after his death with the help of family and friends. His ability to make others laugh and his constant concern for others well-being never faded. A funeral mass will be held this Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Family suggest contributions be sent to The Clint Seymour Play Ball Fund. Donations may be made by visiting clintplayball.com/ donate/. The church has requested that flowers be sent to the family. Arrangements entrusted to the LEO J. HENNEY FUNERAL HOME, Carnegie.

To the Eckenrode family,
I am very sorry to read about Billy. Every single time I saw him at school, and then many years later around town, all he ever did was smile and extend his hand. I am saddened for all of you who will miss him. Keep the good times you had with him in your heart, and know that Billy is at peace. Again, my deepest sympathies.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ryan and Chrissy and the rest of the Eckenrode family. Billy was such a kind and generous man. He was a careful observer of athletic competitions and was an astute judge of talent. I had the honor of coaching with him in many situations and was always grateful for his advice and judgment. He will be missed. A true friend.

Ryan and Chrissy,
We are so sorry to hear about your dad. Both of us and our sons have such fond memories of him. He was a good guy - always had a smile, a great laugh, so much love for the both of you, and lots of baseball stories. Hope it helps to know that others are thinking of you and wishing you strength and peace.

"ECKY" is/was a great kid, tremendously entertaining and a generous personality.

Definitely an appreciated/integral part of the Lincoln - Lebo area athletic fiber. I'll remember the ridiculously effective lefty curve ball, the way outside hoop shot often drawing nothing but net, the pithy local sports analysis and the hilarious cackle.

Unable to attend the observance, I offer his family/friends my deepest condolences and pray for eternal peace. May GOD bless Billy, may GOD bless his family and friends and may GOD bless America!

Best Regards,

My deepest sympathies to the Eckenrode family. Spent a few summers growing up on Sunrise Drive with Billy. He was a great athlete and one of those guys who you couldn't help but like. Saw him off and on through high school and occasionally at Campiti's grabbing a pizza. I'm sorry for your loss.
