He was a member of American Legion Post 193 and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a past member of the Highland Board of Education.

I thought of my dear Uncle Joe on his birthday, as always. I remembered how much I loved him; he was so good to me when I was going through those turbulent adolescent years. He understood! What a remarkable individual he was.

Hey Pa,

Well we are taking bets if the "gold tooth" is out. We are quite sure you are smiling from ear to ear with the newest arrival in heaven. Selfish for us to want her to stay but elated that you and Joanie are reunited with Ma. Enjoy her until we meet again as much as we have enjoyed her in this life.
XOXO - ILY - LOVE YOU MORE -

Oh Daddy, you must be happy because your Bride is finally with you. We didn't want her to go anymore than we wanted you to go, but be joyful and happy that you are finally together. I hope you, she and Joanie and hugging and kissing and laughing and looking down on us with love. Please guide us through the rest of our lives and help us to make wise choices. Until we meet again my sweet family. Love you and miss you all every day.

Happy Birthday Pa! I hope that you and Joanie are celebrating in style. We miss you both more than you know, and think of you both all the time. Here's hoping that heaven has hamburgers with fried onions, boiled potatoes and apple pie a la mode for dinner tonight!

Love ya - Susie

PS - Don't go looking for your Bride any time soon, she's doing OK and holding her own.

November 16, 2016

Dear Daddy,

Please give Joanie a big kiss from all of us on her first birthday in Heaven. We love and miss the two of you more than you'll ever know. Not a day goes by that we don't think of both of you. We're taking good care of your Bride and keeping her safe and warm in your house, but I know she misses you. Although, she is greatly attracted to the Humana Man on TV and Pickles the cat - I don't think you really have to worry about them replacing you in her heart. Love and miss you.

Dear Pa,

It's one year ago today that we laid you to rest, but yet it seems like yesterday. Several of us went to the diner last week on your first anniversary, we brought along your photo and you sat at the head of the table next to Ma. You'd be proud of Chrissy, she ordered the "Joe Ladue Special" of french onion soup, pancakes and sausage with apple pie a la mode for dessert! We've decided to make it an annual event in your honor, but maybe you could bring us a little luck so we could win more than $2.00 at Quickdraw??? As they say, "Life goes on" and we're all doing the best that we can to make sure that your girl is well taken care of here on earth. Rest in peace Pa, and at some point we will all be together again laughing and singing the swimming song! ILY Susie

Prayer to my dear friend and work companion at Town of Lloyd: I will be putting your name in our church's memory book. You shed a light of kindness and good example to all you met that will last us all to the end of our own days here. Many blessings.

My Dearest Uncle,
I thought of you all day yesterday, knowing it would be your first birthday "away" and everyone would be missing you even more. You left such a legacy of love because of the kind of person you were: good to the core. I always have loved you and I always will.

September 15, 2014

Happy Birthday Pa! You didn't make it to 90 here on earth but I hope that you had a big celebration with Grandma and Grandpa Ladue, Momo, Popo and Grandma and Grandpa Tyler up in heaven. Took your girl to visit you yesterday at the cemetary where she polished the top of the bench and sang Happy Birthday to you. How appropriate that at the Mass for you yesterday they said they were looking for Bingo volunteers! Saw John Mandy who said he figured you were fixing the gates of heaven, and he also said how much he missed you. You could tell that Frank Ottaviano was misty eyed and had a lump in his throat when he spoke of he beloved "St. Joseph" during the Mass. You see, not just your family loves you but your good friends also loved you and miss you deeply. ILY Susie

10 months and I still can't believe you are gone. I don't think any of us realized how strong you were and how you were truly the glue of this family. How could someone who was so sick not only bring us closer together, but also keep his house in order? You truly were a Superman, right up until the end. Hoping you had an eye on your Girl and some of her "great's" the other day. She certainly enjoyed their company as you can see by the photo of the four of them watching Mickey Mouse. Love you, miss you and think of you every day! ILY - Susie

I can't believe this is the 6 month anniversary of your leaving us. Seems like only yesterday that you squeezed my hand and went to a better place. Glad to know that your buddy Walter is up there with you now, between Walt, Danny, Bob and you everything in heaven should be up and running smoothly in no time at all. Love you, miss you and think of you every day. ILY - Susie

Pa,
Thank you for being my guardian angel. I know you were watching over me and helped me through a very tough time. I truly feel that you had to be with me that day I almost died. Thank you for keeping watch over all of us....I miss you more than can be imagined. ILY.

Dear Pop,

Building and engineering things always seemed to be a part of your nature. As I sat by your bed the night before you died, I chuckled to remember the repairs you made to Mama's colander and many other goodies. I thought of some of your creations: the toy chest you made for me, the furniture and "appliances" for our playhouse in Chazy, the train table...

Then my thoughts turned to another creation of yours, the one that you and Mama had made to take care of you in your later years. Who would have thought that all those sleep-deprived nights feeding and rocking babies and changing diapers, and countless other acts of fatherly kindness would have gradually built a large and loving family that could surround you when you were the one who was in need? It wasn't the most elegantly functioning contraption you ever put your seal of approval on, but somehow it worked. That "machine", made up of your children and their own families, misses you more than words can ever say. Thank you for all you did for us but especially for the kind of person you were. You truly were "a workman that needeth not to be ashamed". We will never forget you.

Schlaf gut, Papa.

Love,
Mary Jo

Oh Pa...You taught me everything I needed to know in life. How to use tools without fear-To be fair- but the best is to how to love. You taught us all that wonderful lesson. I have yet to meet another man who loves his wife as much as you loved our Mom. When I look at our family I see you in all of us. We are better people because of you. This passed year brought out the best in your "kids"-
Mary Jo "The finance wizard"
Stan "The kind quiet soul"
Lou Ann "The master of laughter"
Susie "The rock that we all leaned on"
Carol"The gift God gave to Ma"
Christine " The keeper of peace" and Michael"The quiet TV sports buddy".
I am sure God is keeping you busy in heaven and when we meet again I will be happy to bring my hammer and be your helper.
Love you Pa,
Joanie

Pa, Papa, Daddy, it doesn't matter what we called you, you answered to all of them. Four weeks ago today you left us in body but not in spirit. None of us can believe the void that was created when God came for you, but we know that you are no longer in pain and you're now at peace. Hopefully you don't need your TV ears anymore and you're watching Fox News along with reruns of Highway to Heaven - that's quite a combination, but then again you were quite a guy. Love you always and then some more.

In your life, you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some, you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you will never, ever forget...their kindness, their gentle manner, the beautiful fruits of their labors, and the knowing smile they always readily gave away...My heart just broke a little more today...May the Blessed Mother and all the angels welcome you with open arms...Wishing a peaceful rest to sweet, sweet, Joe LaDue, always my friend. In memory of a dear humble intelligent man-Joe LaDue-who passed away on Tuesday. I had the privilege of working with Joe at the Town of Lloyd. His credentials and personal family history are repleat with high personal achievement and unique color, but his pride in the accomplishments of the family he and Anita raised gave him his greatest pleasure. They will be his lasting legacy and gift to this weary world. To Anita and family -- bless you all and be comforted by the true affection of all of us who have always loved you. Thank you for the gift of yourselves that continues to inspire us.
