Richard McKnight Obituary

McKnight, Richard

Richard B. McKnight of Hillcrest, passed away on November 7, 2016 after fighting a courageous battle. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Frank and Rita McKnight; brother Bob McKnight; in-laws Gerald and Antoinette Ryan. He left behind the love of his life, his wife, Nancy (Ryan) McKnight; he leaves behind his children, Ted and Lilli McKnight, Amy and Marc Panitz, Sean McKnight, Megan and Chris Stanley; he also leaves behind his prides and joys his grandchildren Connor, Parker, Victoria, and Olivia McKnight, Ryan and Gavin Panitz; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Richard played 4 years of college football for Hobart, went undefeated and was recognized as a Team of Distinction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and received a Master's Degree from Ohio State University while in the military. Richard worked over 30 years for Singer-Link in international contracts negotiation. He then embarked on many other career endeavors. Once finally retired, he enjoyed his wife, his grandchildren, and golf. Visitation will be held on Saturday at St. Patrick's Church in Binghamton from 9 until 10am. A Memorial Mass will be at 10am, followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, his grandchildren request donations in Richard's name be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at www.wish.org/donate or A Room to Heal at www.aroomtoheal.net. Arrangements are with the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home Inc.
