M. Taugher Obituary
Binghamton: M. Eleanor Kane Taugher, 86, of Binghamton, died Saturday afternoon, January 21, 2012. She was the daughter of the late John and Marie Kane and was predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Taugher; her son, Kevin Taugher; and her brothers, Rev. Joseph F. Kane, Rev. John W. Kane, and Robert and Betty Kane. She is survived by her children, Rev. Timothy J. Taugher, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Hillcrest, Robert and Patrice Taugher, Jr., Ponte Vedra, FL, Karen and Dennis Majewski, Littleton, CO, Eileen and Mike Fitzgerald, Binghamton, Sheila Taugher and Sarah Merrick, Jamesville, Molly and Tom Kane, Binghamton, Susan and Peter Brown, New York City; daughter-in-law, Christine Taugher, Fairfax, VA; 15 grandchildren; her brother, Rev. Msgr. James D. Kane, Binghamton; several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, member of the Altar-Rosary Society and Fatima Group. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy and retired from the New York State Workers Compensation Board. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Susquehanna Nursing Home and her friends who loved and supported Eleanor during her illness. A Funeral Mass will be offered by her son and brother at St. Patrick's Church, Oak and Leroy Streets, Binghamton, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. The family requests that flowers please be omitted and expressions of sympathy in memory of Eleanor be made to Danielle House, 160 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, NY or Catholic Schools of Broome County Tuition Assistance, 17 Adams St., Binghamton, NY 13905.

Many thoughts and prayers for you and your Mom and Grandmother, Eleanor. I loved her picture and reading of her life...and the many notes of neighbors and loved ones that she knew thr the yrs. One wrote, "A human life is a story told by God" Hans Christian Anderson...I wish we could of really celebrated her life with you at her funeral Mass.

To the Taugher family: I worked with Eleanor at the Workers Compensation Board in Binghamton. What a special lady, Eleanor was, so beautiful on the inside, and also so beautiful on the outside. She would have lunch with us on some days and we always had many laughs with her at our lunch table. We really enjoyed her company. She was truly a very special soul! We hadn't seen your mother for quite a few years. We moved to North Carolina back in 1979 but have always heard from our family up north news which many times included something about the Taugher's and the Kane's. My sincere sympathy to the entire Taugher family. I recall that my parents were friends of Bob and Eleanor Taugher. When passing by the Chestnut house there was always a group there and more were always welcomed. What a wonderful job of raising a family as witnessed by the love and compassion shown by each of the Taugher children as they cared for their mother during these last few years May she now rest in peace

She and her husband Bob were wonderful and caring friends of our family for as long as any of us can remember. Father Tim, Molly, Tom and the Taugher family,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Taugher. Losing a parent is difficult at any age, but when it is your mother, the giver of life, the nurturer, the teacher, the example of God's love in a child's life, I find to be the most difficult loss.
Although I had only met Mrs. Taugher a few times, it is obvious that she was a wonderful woman as evidenced by the way her children exemplify her love of God and family and have passed this on to the next generation of children.
You are in my thoughts and prayers that these days ahead will be eased knowing that your mother is resting in the palm of God's hand, still watching over her precious family.
