Lois Rose Obituary

Lois F. Rose, of San Anselmo died Saturday, November 6, 2010 from complications of a hip fracture and dementia. She was born Lois Anna Ferris, June 16, 1920, the daughter of William B. Ferris and Bertha Moran Ferris. They lived on a farm in Blue Ash, Ohio; there were eight boys and three girls. She was the second youngest. Mrs. Rose graduated from Sycamore High School in 1938 and Ohio State University in 1942 majoring in home economics. With Westinghouse, she demonstrated appliances in the Western states and then was at the Safeway test kitchen. She married Frank Rose in 1952, her husband of forty-five years. In 1953, Lois and Frank moved to Sleepy Hollow. She enjoyed gardening, was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Bridge Marathon, and the Gourmet club. Mrs. Rose is survived by her son, Mark Rose; her brother Jack Ferris, of Sacramento; and her sister in law, Rosemarie Ferris, of Ohio. Mrs. Rose did home demonstrations of Kitchen Aid Dishwashers in the county; also she volunteered at the American Cancer Society Thrift Shop and One More Time. Donations in her memory may be made to: One More Time, 1821 Fourth St., San Rafael, CA 94901. Proceeds benefit Community Counseling and Suicide Prevention. There will be a memorial service Sunday, November 14th at 3:00 p.m. at the San Geronimo Community Presbyterian Church, 6001 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., San Geronimo, CA 94963.
