DOROTHY R.M. BEST

Dorothy Ray Moring Best, 91, of Petersburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Katherine Wagner Moring. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ulysses Best; two brothers, Raymond Moring and Bobby Moring; and great-grandson, Seth Garcia. She was a wonderful mother. In growing up and even when we became adults, she was always there for all of us. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sue Vedomske and husband, Steven, of Prince George, Va.; four sons, Norman Wayne Best and wife, Sharlet of Ashland, La., Donald Ray Best, Sr. and wife, Cheryl of Prince George, Va., Gary Lee Best and wife, Debbie of Prince George, Va., and James Allen Best and wife, Tammy of Prince George, Va.; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Garcia and husband, Jody and Ashly Renee Smith and husband, Jason; six grandsons, Donald Ray Best, Jr. and Cindy, Jason Lee Best and wife, Tami, Nathan Wayne Best and wife, Jennifer, Lee Burnett Best, Jonathan Wayne Best and Taylor Patrick Best; two great-grandsons, Ryan Andrew Garcia and Landon Dunn; two sisters, Mildred Ann Zahralban and Nancy Lee Carmichael; two brothers, Edward Earl Moring and wife, Shirley and Roy Francis Moring and wife, Janice; three sisters-in-law, Lois Moring, Margaret Miller and Barbara Davis; one brother-in-law, Chester Best and wife, Coleen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016, in the Mausoleum at Southlawn Memorial Park.
