Lucy Branch Obituary

Mrs. Lucy P. Jones Branch of 433 Briggs Lane, Jarratt, entered into eternal rest Wednesday Feb. 14, 2007 at the Emporia Manor after a period of declining health. She was born Dec. 2, 1923 to the late Allen Jones and Annie Bates Jones. She came to know Christ at an early age and upon moving back to Sussex County from South Hill, she fellowshipped faithfully at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, McKenney, and later confirmed her faith by joining the Higher Way Full Gospel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Branch, and a son, John T. Branch.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Thomas L. Branch of Stony Creek, and Raider Branch of Emporia; two daughters, Rasheedah K. Jones "Gertrude Branch" of Stony Creek and Annie B. Branch of Emporia; two devoted sisters, Geneva Ampey of Jarratt, and Barbara Phillips of Jarratt; three brothers, James Jones, Willie Jones and Robert Jones all of Emporia; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Branch will be held Tuesday Feb. 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Higher Way Full Gospel Baptist Church, 515 Virginia Ave., Petersburg, with the Bishop Darren L. Gay Sr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Monday Feb. 19, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family has entrusted the arrangements for their loved one to the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd., McKenney, (804)-478-4411.
