EDWARD S. ROGERS JR.

Edward Shawne Rogers, Jr. was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2016. He was born on April 23, 1990, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va. He was the oldest child of three children. Edward was preceded in death by his paternal grandma, Sally Spruill; grandfather, James Green; and paternal uncle, Kerian Rogers of Maryland.

Edward attended Hopewell High School and enjoyed auto mechanics, electronics and basketball. He went on to attend Pathways and successfully earned various awards and certificates for completing a number of trades. He was always cheerful and happy and known for his impeccable taste in sneakers and baseball caps.

Edward leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted mother, Patricia Spruill; his loving and caring father, Edward Shawne Rogers, Sr.; and his stepdad, Darnell Clanton; two sisters, Nicole Barnes (Damon) and Asia Moore; two nieces, Jaylen Barnes and Maddison Banks; two aunts, Judy Smith (James Crenshaw Jr.) and Ameenah Shamsid-Deen of Tacoma, Wa.; four wonderful uncles, Andrew Spruill (Tanesha), Leroy Spruill, Marvin Green and James Green; his beautiful great-grandma, Vivian Rogers; loving grandma, Fran Jones; uncle, Troy Rogers.

Funeral services for Mr. Edward S. Rogers, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax Street, with Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson, Sr., pastor, officiating. Interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. Repast will be held at 503 St. Luke Street, Petersburg, Va.

The Prayer Vigil will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 6 p.m.on Elm and Westover Streets in Hopewell, Va.

The family will assemble at 9:45 a.m. on the day of the service and receive friends at 1119 Delaware Ave., Hopewell, Va.
