Alfred Togger Obituary

Alfred James Togger, 86, of Disputanta, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at his residence.

He was a retired operator with Columbia Gas, a full-time farmer, a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church and served as a bugler in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Togger was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Martha Myers Togger; sisters, Margaret Togger Kolek and Pauline Togger Baird; grandson, Joseph Patrick Togger; and son-in-law, Michael Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Helen Togger of Disputanta; and children, Teresa T. Harmon and husband, Craig of Sandston, Cynthia T. Cacek and husband, Paul, of Prince George, Lucy M. Ray of Browns Mills, N.J., Joseph P. Togger and wife, Sharon, of Scott Depot, W.Va., Stephen M. Togger and wife, Denise, of Disputanta, Mary Ann Hallman and husband, Bob, of Disputanta, Carolyn T. Yarosz and husband, Mark, of Disputanta, Karl P. Togger and wife, Rena, of Ford, Ruby T. Spain and husband, Keith, of Disputanta, and Amanda J. Yesker of Enon; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William E. Togger of Petersburg; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at St. James Catholic Church with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Prince George Emergency Crew, P.O. Box 308, Prince George, VA 23875, or St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 151 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803. Condolences may be registered with www.jtmorriss.com.
