Raymond Moring Obituary

Raymond Moring Jr., 82, of Prince George, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010. He was the son of the late Raymond Moring Sr. and Mary Wagner Moring. He was predeceased by his brother, Bobby Moring. Mr. Moring grew up in Petersburg and, as a young man, played minor league baseball in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. He also enjoyed playing in several area softball leagues. He was retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad as well as owning and operating his own welding business for many years. Mr. Moring was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois; four children, Mrs. Kathy Tricarico of Providence Forge, Raymond Moring III of Prince George, Michael Moring of Ashland and Karen Moring of Charlottesville; sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Best of Colonial Heights, Mrs. Nancy Carmichael of Disputanta, and Mrs. Mildred Zahralban of Disputanta; brothers, Edward Moring of Richmond and Roy Moring of Disputanta; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; two stepsons, Charles and Douglas Skinner.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the Petersburg chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, request donations be made to the building fund of Oakland Baptist Church, 12601 Prince George Drive, Disputanta, VA 23842
