Joseph Blevins Obituary

Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Joseph E. Blevins, 53, passed away in Springfield, Mo., on June 16, 2010.

He was born in Marion, Va., on May 2, 1957. He had been fighting a battle with cancer for the past several months. Joe attended school in Blackstone, Va., and graduated from Nottaway County High School in 1975. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, having spent most of that time in South Korea. Joe was a member of The Church of The Nazarene.

He was proceeded in death by a sister, Shelly Riech.

He is survived by his wife; Lynn Blevins; three children, Sarah and husband Chris Gammill, Rachel Blevins and Jim Blevins all of Harrison, Ark.; his parents, James and Pearl Blevins; one brother, Scott Blevins, all of Ridgedale, Mo.; two sisters, Sue and husband Billy Atkins of Petersburg, Va., Marcia Blevins of Hopewell, Va., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside service with military honors with be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George, Va., with Pastor Wayne Pennington of Hopewell Church of the Brethren officiating.
