I am 5 years late in writing this, but Mr. Bielecki is etched into my memory as the flight examiner who passed me for my private pilots license. He was very tough, but justifiably critical of my performance. I can still hear his voice saying, "I could flunk you just for this. What if this was a forced landing"? (As he cut the throttle) The result was that I NEVER once took a passenger with me after that. I just wasn't going to risk anyone else's life. But he was still a gentleman, and we need more people like him. Thank you Mr.Bielecki!

I met Gene probably about twenty years ago when David Frawley introduced me to he. Over the years I got to know him as a consummate professional pilot, a friend, and a true friend. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him.

Aviation lost a great individual and a dedicated pilot. Gene gave me my flight test in 1967. Unfortunately I just found out he passed. God Bless him.

Gene signed my Private Pilot ticket on June 1st, 2001. He was a wonderful person and a first class aviator. I will never forget how -- as he demonstrated a maneuver to me during the checkride, -- the very INSTANT he had the controls, that little airplane was in the very palm of his hand. We will all miss him terribly. Fair skies and following winds to him and to all who loved him and who had the joy and honor of flying with him.

The entry in my log book dated 11/20/1973 reads in part "Private pilot flight test, Passed E.Bielecki". We've lost a great aviator and a great person. Soft landings Gene, we'll miss you.

Gene Bielecki wasn't just a pilot, he was a Maestro at the controls of any aircraft he flew. More than once, flying right seat with him at controls, when I'd reach to change frequencies, he'd already have done so, almost magically I never saw him reach for the radio.
He wasn't just an instructor, he was a Professor with a PhD in flying experience which he shared freely. Gene and I flew together many times and after every flight, I realized that I had learned something new.
He took the time to extend my knowledge and experience in my airplane far beyond FAA requirements, all to make me a better and safer pilot. The highest compliment I've ever been paid as a pilot was once, when on an IFR flight from Dulles to Providence, he turned to me and quietly said, You always fly the center line.
To my mind, Gene always flew the center line in all aspects of his life. A true gentleman, a class act, a good husband, father and friend.
And to top it off, he had the good common sense and intelligence to marry Phyllis, a wonderful person in her own right.
May Gene rest in peace.

Gene was such an enthusiastic speaker at the safety seminars. He always stressed how one must be ready to, "change one's mindset in an instant so as not to fly through a thundercloud." This teaching applies to so many aspects of life. Thanks, Gene for being such a true teacher!
