BRIDGMAN, Jr., CLARK
Clark Bridgman Jr., 87, of Wakefeld, RI, passed away September 9, 2017. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joyce (Peck) Bridgman. Born February 10, 1930 in Springfield, MA to the late Clark and Marion (Jordan) Bridgman. Grew up in Evanston and Highland Park, IL. Attended the Taft School in Watertown, CT and graduated from Yale University in 1954 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He married Joyce Elizabeth Peck of Watertown, CT in 1953. Worked in engineering and research related fields for Aerojet General and the Grumman Corporation at a variety of locations including Azusa, CA, Dayton, OH, Cape Kennedy, FL, Bethpage, NY, Princeton, NJ, Oak Ridge, TN and Los Alamos, NM. While at Cape Kennedy, he was a member of the launch team for all the Apollo manned missions to the moon.
Following retirement from Grumman, he designed and built the family home in Red Hook, NY where he and Joyce enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Moving to Wakefield, RI in 2006, he became an active member and trustee of the Kingston Congregational Church, the Belchertown (MA) Historical Association, a volunteer at the South County Senior Center, driver for Meals on Wheels and a docent at The Gilbert Stuart Museum.
He leaves behind a son Timothy Clark and his wife Carol Embler Bridgman of Maryville, TN, a daughter Sioux Stanton and her partner Adam Toaspern of Howes Cave, NY, a daughter Libby Lamarre and her husband Mike Lamarre of Spring TX; grandchildren Cory Stanton, Katy Santoro, Ryan Stanton, Jaime Bridgman, Clark Nicholas Bridgman, Tyler Lamarre, Cameron Lamarre, and Madeline Lamarre; great-grandchildren Chase Santoro, Avery Santoro, Grayson Santoro, Izabella Stanton and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Shirley Stolley and Patricia Strand.
Clark enjoyed being with his family, reading American history, researching family history and following both college and major league sports including the Chicago Cubs and the Miami Dolphins.
In true fashion, Clark donated his body to The Brown University Anatomical Gift Program for the training of medical personal and the advancement of medical science through education and research.
A memorial service will be celebrated on October 14 at 12pm in Kingston Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Rd, Kingston, RI, 02881 or Hope Hospice, 1085 N. Main St, Providence RI, 02904.
