"Carlos Anaya" Obituary

Services: 7 p.m., today a rosary will be recited at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari.  At 10 a .m. on Wednesday, a mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at St. Anne's. Carlos "Charlie" Medina Anaya, 77, of Grants, N.M., and formerly of Tucumcari, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, in North West Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, following an extended illness.   Mr. Anaya was born Oct. 27, 1929 in Norton, N.M., to Leocadio and Alicia Medina Anaya. He had been a licensed, self-employed plumber for over 25 years in the Grants area before retiring in 2000. He was a member of the St. Teresa de Avila Catholic Church in Grants and a former member of the St. Anne's in Tucumcari.   Surviving Mr. Anaya are his wife of 54 years,  Mary Jane Mirabal Anaya of Grants , two sons, Charlie Anaya of Amarillo and Simon (Bobbie) Anaya of Grants, two daughters, Mary Herrera and Veronica Anaya, both of Amarillo, one brother, Jose (Rose) Anaya of Albuquerque and a daughter in law Bobbie  Anaya of Grants, one granddaughter, Krystal Herrera of Amarillo, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Margaret, by two brothers, Benito and Bernardino, two children, Jane and Johnny, and by a great-grandson, Matthew Joe Zuniga.   Leo Padget will officiate at the services. Palbearers will be Simon and Charlie Anaya, Jose M. Martinez, Olin Charlie, Dwight Kasendick and Chris Quintana.   Burial will be in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.
