Bryon Merritt Obituary

BILLINGS, Mont. - Bryon Wayne "Bud" Merritt, 70, gave up his Life and released his Spirit on May 3, 2011, after a battle with cancer at the Billings Clinic Hospital.

Bryon Wayne Compton was born July 17, 1940, to Kermit E. Compton and Evelyn Eastlick Compton of Hill City, S.D. Bud assumed the name of his stepfather, Frances "Fritz" Merritt.

Bud married Linda Russell Casey on Dec. 12, 1986, and they resided in Billings.

Bud was a retired carpenter and loved fishing, camping and hunting and visiting over coffee with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, Billings; two sons, Rod Merritt, Colorado, and Stewart Merritt, North Dakota; a stepson, Richard (Staci) Casey, Washington; five grandchildren; his parents, Evelyn Merritt and stepfather, Stewart Steele, Rapid City, S.D.; his brother, Ron (Judy) Merritt; two sisters, Anna Lee (Alee) Fields and Sherri Hullinger, both of Billings; an uncle, Bill Eastlick of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the local Cancer Association.
