My Father was a unique individual who lived two very special and different lives. This was clearly evidenced by the two very different events held in his honor this last Suday and Monday. Which is why I want to express myself here. I never told my dad he was my hero. He was the one who taught myself, my sisters and brother to soar like eagles. He was then and forever will be the wind benith our wings.
I am sure his grand childeren, adopted grandchilderen and other will rembember him for the same reasons.
May the Great Spirit Protect you on your new Journey Dad.

WaltI've been thinking awhile about you since you passed on and about what I wanted to write about on this guest book. (Passed on; I heard a hospice nurse say some people like to say 'crossed the river'that reminded me of you, of course). I was up in the middle of the night last night (again, my 2 year old likes to keep things real : ) and it came to me: even though you were much older than me, I never thought about you as "old". Even in the final years of your life when it was technically true, I never thought of you as an old dude. Even long ago, you were never Shana's dad who was much older than mine, and later on, you were never Sheryl's elderly father. It must've been your spirit, that shined through to me especially in your voice, ('Well, Hey Sara! How are you?") -- your spirit that was youthful and fun and energetic. That spirit teaches me not to fear getting older and helps me think about aging in a positive way. And I can't remember a time you weren't smiling and happy and making jokes - no matter what diet you were on that month : ) I'm so glad we cruised Baja Mexico together, shared many a Thanksgiving table and I'm most grateful for the last Christmas memory we have at your home; it was special for me, Jorge and our kids. We all love you.

Grandpa Walt was a great man. Always a smile on his face and cheerful demeanor and positive attitude. He made you feel special no matter how many people filled the room, and with the size of our family, we've filled many rooms with him. Holidays and family events won't be the same without him, but he will be there with us in spirit for sure. He lived a full and adventurous life, and for that I am not sad, but extremely grateful. Love you Grandpa Walt.

I'm a Daddy's girl and always will be. My father was so important to me and I miss him terribly! I receive comfort knowing that he is always a part of who I am - and he is a part of my siblings, children, and grandchildren! Even though he is gone, he will always be with me.
I love you Dad!

Lyn,
Sorry to learn about Walt. During my first five years of practice before the WCAB, Walt was the Judge. After he moved to Redding I spent the next 34 years missing him. (They don't make claims adjustor the way they used to, either)

My condolences to Lyn, Anna and the rest of the family. Although I only met Walt briefly, I know he must have been a wonderful person to have such devoted family. He lives on in their hearts and our community is better for the good work he did and that his family continues to do. Thank you, Walt, for being the inspiration.

Walt, I don't think there was ever a time when I saw you that there wasn't a sparkle in your eye, a smile for all, and a sense that the room was warmer simply because of you being you. What a beautiful life you lived. We are all better from knowing you.
Rest in peace.

Papa Walt,
The time I shared with you was full of joy, and I have yet to have a "Hello there Sue!" said aloud as gregariously. I enjoyed spending time with you and your wonderful family - and I can never thank you and Lynn enough for bringing one of my best friends into my life. I loved discussing travel, the military, and life in general with you. Your advice and support helped shape my military career into one of distinction and honor. I am so proud to have known you and I wish you love and luck on your ethereal path.
Love always,
Diana Allred

I cannot express in words how much I loved this man, and what an honor it has been to be his Granddaughter. He was such a truly amazing human being, the type of person you would never forget because people like him only come around one in a life time. He gave me the greatest gift a person can give, his love, his time, his wisdom, and most importantly the greatest family, filled with such amazing people, all of us shaped by him. Thank you Grandpa, until we meet again you will continue to inspire me to be a better, loving, kinder, tolerant person. I will try to raise your great grand babies to be half the person you were, and that alone would be pretty damn great! I love you.

Judge Brophy will be sorely missed by many of us in the workers' compensation community. I was fortunate to follow him as the Arbitrator with the IBEW Carve-out Trust Program and had the pleasure of reading many of his well-reasoned and thought provoking decisions. He was a fair judge and one who was willing to follow his conscience when it may have been unpopular. My wife Tina and I offer our condolences to the Brophy family.

Walter Brophy lived near me in Eureka. He lived next to Gus and Rose Martin on Dolbeer and we had so much fun together, went fishing on party boat The Sueno and caught lots of fish I was 'bait boy'. I was so sad when he left Eureka, but later when he worked with my wife Linda Palmrose from Eureka WCAB we spent time talking about all the fun we had together. Such a kind, wonderfull ma. God Bless and rest in peace my friend.
