William Nowlin Obituary
1919 - 2010
William "Bill" Nowlin was born on April 17, 1919 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Sarah and William Nowlin.
He served in the Navy during WWII and then moved to Los Angeles where he met and wed Lucille in 1948.
Lucille preceded him in death in 2007 after 59 years of marriage and three children.
He is survived by daughter Bette Libbee, and sons Bill III and Jeff both of Dunnigan and his 2 grandchildren Sam and Jessica Libbee.
He was a carpenter and cabinet maker and retired from Mercy Hospital in 1980.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union for 70 years.
Bill passed away on December 29, 2010 after a short battle with cancer.
At his request, no services will be held but memorial contributions could be made to Mercy Hospice.

I'm was so sorry to hear of Uncle Bill's passing, the last time I saw him was on a visit to Redding in July of 2004, He and Aunt Lou were still in their house, my daughter Jennifer and son Bret along with 3 grandchildren stopped by and had a great visit recalling the past, relatives, incidents all kinds of things. I moved to Redding in 2007 and kind of lost tract of your mom and dad's location, I didn't know of Aunt Lou's passing. I'm sure you don't even remember me, we were very young the last time I saw you guys. I'm Esther and Mike Grove's daughter, Esther was your father's sister. I read of Uncle Bill's passing in the paper and hoped to attend his service. If you could E-mail me, maybe we could meet at the cemetery, I understand he will be buried in Igo, date pending. please contact me anyway.....Judy Evans 530)241-8137

I'm sorry to learn of his passing. I would never have known about it, except that I received a Google Alert this morning since Google searches for items regarding "Bill Nowlin" - a name we shared. I see there is also a Bill III, and a Bette. My mother's name was Betty (given name, not a nickname). There's a coincidence there.
I have read of a couple who live in Austin, TX who are named Bill and Betty Nowlin.
It sounds like "your" Bill lived a long life.
