Richard Berrett Obituary

Richard Scott Berrett, age 44, of Rexburg, passed away on July 23, 2015, in his home while surrounded by family.
Scott was born in Provo, UT on Dec. 15, 1970 to Richard and JoAn Berrett. He was his family's favorite son and brother, as he was the only boy with all sisters. Despite Scott's dad's protests, Scott was his sisters' favorite play-thing as they played dress up and dolls. We believe that his thoughtful, kind personality came from watching his dad love Scott's mom and his sweet sisters: Jolynne, Janine, Becki and Kris. Scott was always the best at remembering and recognizing special occasions for his loved ones.
Scott graduated from Mountain Crest High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Idaho State University in linguistics. Scott served an LDS mission in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf Germany. Missionary work is also what introduced Scott to his lovely wife, Taunia, who was mission companions with Scott's sister Becki in the Raleigh North Carolina mission. They were married for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on Dec. 17, 1993. It was a decision that they have always treasured.
Scott and Taunia enjoyed their time they lived in Utah and have fun memories of traveling to new areas for Scott's barbershop competitions. They then settled in Rexburg, Idaho where they loved building their home together and they were constantly busy attending the activities of their children: Laticia Sue, William "Billy" Scott, Robert "Robby" Matt and Emilee Jo. The Berrett home was always full of jokes and laughter. The kids best remember spending time with their dad at the Papa Kelseys store that Scott managed. They said that so many customers returned over and over because of the fun atmosphere that their dad created.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, at the Park Street LDS Chapel, 700 Park Street in Rexburg, with Bishop Alan Dutson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Scott will be laid to rest in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.
