Melvin passed away peacefully on his 91st Birthday with his loving family at his side.
Mel was born in Rawson, ND to Edward and Bertha Gullickson. He grew up in a farming community and frequently traveled to school on horseback. He was a WWII Veteran who joined the US Navy in 1942 and served on the USS ATR 58, a rescue ship in the South Pacific.
Mel met Maxine McMaster in Watford City, ND in 1940. They were married May 15, 1943 in Miami while he was serving his country.
Mel worked for 39 yrs for (NCR) National Cash Register Co, in WA, OH, MT, UT and ending his career in NV.
Mel worked at golf, but his true joy was riding his snowmobile in the Sierras.
He was a member of Washoe County Sheriff's Dept. Snowmobile Search/Rescue. He continued to ride his snowmobile until he was 88.
He leaves behind his wife of 70 yrs, Maxine, son Larry Gullickson (Colleen) of Idaho; daughter Carol Arp (Drew) of WA and special grandchildren Ryan and Megan Arp.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Gilbert, Alex and Morris.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday Jan 20, 2013 at 3pm at the Sierra Bible Church, 3195 Everett Dr, Reno, NV 89503. Mel helped guide me through NCR Reno when I hired on, he was my leader and a GREAT Guy. I rember him often!

Fond memeories of the neighbor who was very kind to my whole family for many years. Remember the snowmobiling in our streets after big snowstorms and out in the hills behind his home, the home with the most perfect lawn. My condolences to his family.
