February 6, 2016

On the evening of February 6th Juan passed away at 10:35 pm at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno Nevada as a result of cancer. He was 56 years old. Juan Braña was born in the town of Almandoz Navarra Spain on April 9, 1959. He was the 7th child of Estefania Inda and Manuel Braña. He came to America at the age of 18 to Rupert Idaho to be contracted by Jugararld sheep ranch as a sheepherder. In 1983 he met his future wife and married in '85. That same year, came to Reno Nevada to work for Helm's Construction as a labor worker and continued to work in construction until he retired with Q and D Construction. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in the mountains. He was an avid chucker hunter, competed in woodchopping as well as coached his daughter and other fellow chopper. He was a active member in the Reno Basque community. He enjoyed going to the Basque festivals, playing mus and dancing the jota. He enjoyed watching sports with the family such football (Dallas Cowboys), hand ball (peltoa) and UNR football games. He loved being a grandfather towards his grandson Ren (cho cho). He survived by his wife Eulalia, his two daughters Stephanie and Amaya and grandson Ren. Juan was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friends to many. His generosity, compassion, strength, loyalty, dedication and his smile and laugh will be greatly missed but the memories and stories will remain. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Snows at 11:00 am on Monday , February 15th at 1138 Wright Street in Reno.
