Thursday, March 9th, Nevada lost one of their own. Roxana was a native Nevadan, born in Yerington, February 26, 1940 to Herbert and Alberta Hillygus. After graduating from Yerington High, she moved to the "Biggest Little City" where she had a brief stint working as a switchboard operator for Nevada Bell. She met and married her first husband Dale Carlson and embarked on a ten year modeling career while raising her two children Marcus and Kristan.
With no prior experience, she then became an entrepreneur, successfully owning and operating two motels in the Reno area for 30 years.
At that point in time she met her "soul mate" as she called him, Gordon J. Cupples. Their 32 year marriage was the high point of her later life where she and Gordon shared a passion for golfing, belonging to the Hidden Valley Country club for approximately 30 years. She was also very active in the Republican Party and worked diligently on her spiritual well-being.
She was preceded in death by Gordon during the Caughlin fire of 2011. She is survived by her sons Marcus (Ana), Kristan, granddaughter Katie Lee in Florida, two sisters Elaine MacKenzie and Bonnie Kim, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her.
She will be greatly missed by all who entered her sphere of energy.

I will most miss Roxana's helpfulness. She was always quick with a suggestion or a home remedy for anything that ailed you. If you had a problem, she would research a fix for it and email or call with the fix. I miss your smile. Rest in peace, dear friend.
