Junior Sterling Woodward

Junior Sterling Woodward, 84, of Abingdon, Va., went home to be with Jesus on his birthday, March 25, 2010, at his home. He was employed for almost 42 years by United States Gypsum Company of Plasterco, and he was also a T.V. repairman for many years. Junior was a faithful member of the Chilhowie Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denton and Irena Goff Woodward; three brothers, Hugh, Preston, and Morris Woodward; two sisters-in-law, Lockie and Elizabeth Woodward; and nephew, Frankie Woodward. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doskie Poore Woodward; four daughters, Linda Sue Woodward, of the home, Thelma McGlocklin and husband, Robert, of Abingdon, Brenda Roberts and husband, Dicky, of Buena Vista, and Janice McGlocklin and husband, David, of Glade Spring; one son, Don Woodward and wife, Sharon, of Whitwell, Tenn.; two brothers, Curtis Woodward, of Blountville, Tenn., and Kyle Woodward and wife, Corinna, of Longs, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Hassie Webb, of Abingdon; six grandchildren, Ricky Roberts and wife, Lori, John Roberts and wife Theresa, Shayne McGlocklin and wife, Shannon, Brittni Brown and husband, Jonathan, Lance McGlocklin, and Joshua Woodward; six great-grandchildren, Colton, Blaine, Kagen, Talen and Addisen Roberts, and Maddie McGlocklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Chilhowie Church of God of Prophecy with Ministers, Mark Mitchell, Geary Jonas, and Dickie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the church. Pallbearers will be Ricky and John Roberts, Shayne and Lance McGlocklin, Brittni and Jonathan Brown, and Josh Woodward. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Sadler and Willard Kestner.
