Rebecca Kingery Obituary

Rebecca Pearcey (Granny Beck) Kingery, 94, of Roanoke County, Va., passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 5, 2010. She was a faithful member of Garden City Church of the Nazarene where she kept the nursery for 35 plus years. She had an impact on many lives by serving Christ in this capacity. She was a precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put Christ first in all that she did. She was a homemaker, which allowed her to keep her grandchildren and even some of her great-grandchildren on a regular basis as they were growing up. What a blessing from God to have such a godly woman as an example in their lives daily. She loved each member of her family so very much and it was evident in the way that she cared for them through the years.
She was a prayer warrior and those prayers were felt by the family. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, V. Elmer Kingery; her mother and father, Ida Zimmerman and Fields I. Pearcey; sisters, Ruth Arthur and Pauline Pollard; brother, Irving (Pete) Pearcey Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Carol Kidd Kingery.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, L.E. (Sonny) Kingery and Linda, of Roanoke County; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Cliff Gordon, of Roanoke County; five grandchildren, Maurice Kingery and wife, Glenette ,of Roanoke County, Trelbie Whitehead and husband, Mike, of Roanoke County, Pastor Steve Gordon and wife, Tracy, of Roanoke, Karen Burgess and husband, Kevin, of Ferrum, and JoEllen Crawford and husband, Seth, of Boones Mill; 11 great-grandchildren, Trelisha Bell and husband, Jesse, Trevin Whitehead, Reece Kingery, Tyler, Logan and Emily Burgess, Ashley Morris, Kimberlie and Kelsi Gordon, and Sarah and Jackson Crawford; one brother, Clayton F. Pearcey, of Marion; one sister, Cynthia Rosenberger, of Roanoke; and many dear friends and extended family that meant so much.
The family would like to extend our appreciation to the wonderful staff at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home for the excellent loving way you cared for Granny Beck during the past three months. She thought the world of each of you.
The funeral will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010, at Garden City Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Sherrill Michaels and Pastor Steve Gordon officiating. Interment will follow at Bandy Cemetery, Roanoke County. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.

Granny Beck has been such an inspiration to me over the past years. She has been one of the most kind, giving ladies I have ever known. Dee Dee and Granny Beck's Christian faith have been a light to all of the family (as well as others). They are greatly missed!! We will always remember you both in our minds and our hearts till we see you again. We know without a doubt that you are with our LORD! (--there is no more pain and no more sorrow.) Love you Granny Beck!!

The world is not the same without you in it Granny~I miss you more than you will ever know! You were an amazing inspiration to our family! I am so blessed that I had you in my life (not many people get to experience the joy of their "great" grandparents) and I will always treasure the time I was able to spend with you! I know you are so happy now that you are in heaven and with Dee-Dee again...You are going to be missed so much! I can't wait to see you again one day! <3 I LOVE YOU GRANNY

Charlene, Sonny and family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Even though we have had little contact with Granny Beck in past years, we have many good memories of her and have always been encouraged by her strong Christian faith. She was an inspiration to all who met her, and we know she will be greatly missed. Rejoice that she is in heaven today with her loved ones who have gone on before. We are sure she and Dee Dee are having a wonderful reunion!

Charlene,Sonny and family
I can remember from a very young age spending a week during the summer at your home. Charlene and I spent alot of good times together. I am sure it was the first time I ever ate squirrel and your mother knew just how to cook it on her wood stove. She was a woman to be revered. At night I could hear her reading the Bible to your Dad. She took part in every church activity she was asked to do and took her religon very seriously. I offer my sincerest sympathy and will keep you in my prayers. If there is anything I can do please let me know. She was my mom's best friend and even though they could not attend church anymore, they still kept in contact with each other,
and I know she was ready to join Mr. Kingery and the other Saints in heaven. May the Lord bring comfort to you all in this time of need.

"Granny Beck" will be missed SO very much. She was the perfect example of what a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother should be. The Christian example that she set for all of us will carry on for generations to come. Praise God that she is walking the streets of gold today with
Dee-Dee and all her loved ones who have gone before.
Love you forever Granny Beck!!

Sonny my prayers go out to you and all your family as I know she will be missed dearly. I feel as she was a part of my life just knowing her through Linda who was always giving us information about her and keeping us informed on her health. It's always a comfort when some one leaves us here knowing that they are now with our LORD and with no more pain and tears just happy reunions with all the ones that have already gone before us. She will be waiting there for us to join her and that is what gives us happiness here knowing that we will all be together again. If I can be of any help to you and the family please don’t hesitate to call. May GOD bless you and the family with happy memories of time gone by and the comfort knowing she is now with HIM.
