Doris Roberts
MAXTON — Doris "Allene" Faircloth Roberts, 86, of Maxton, passed away to her Heavenly home on Jan. 14, 2014.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Maxton First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
Allene was a daughter of the late Joe and Della Harrell Faircloth, born March 20, 1927, in Bladen County. She was the devoted wife of the late James M. "Buddy" Roberts Sr. She worked in textiles, retiring from J.P. Stevens Inc. after 25 years of service. She served as a longtime faithful member of the Maxton First Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips, walking, serving meals on wheels and watching the Atlanta Braves. Allene was a loving, Christian mother and grandmother who will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Wade Faircloth, Claudia Britt, Daisy F. Britt, Bert Faircloth, Neil Faircloth, Donnie Faircloth, Lorraine Calcutt, Joe Will Faircloth and Tom Faircloth.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her children her son, James M. Roberts Jr., and wife Debbie of Maxton; her daughters, Betty Roberts Shoemake and special friend Greg Sheppard, Norma Roberts Guinn and husband Johnny, Susan Roberts Ensminger and husband Arthur, all of Laurinburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
