CHRISTOPHER CHAVIS
LEXINGTON — Christopher Chavis, 54, of Lexington, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He worked for Burlington Furniture in Lexington, N.C.
He was born in Lumberton, N.C., on Sept. 7, 1962, to the late Redell and Lessie Chavis.
He is preceded in death by five brothers, Ellis Odell Chavis, Willie Chavis, Redell Chavis Jr., Robert Chavis, Coleman Chavis, and two sisters, Linda Joyce Hardin and Sybil Lowery.
He is survived by two brothers, Billy Chavis and Jerry Chavis, both of Lexington, N.C.; five sisters, Shirley Chavis and Sadie Chavis, both of Pembroke, N.C., Paulette Chavis Eastridge of Bladen County, Linda Ellen Chavis and Annie C. Ivey, both of Lumberton, N.C.; nine half-brothers and half-sisters; several nieces and nephews, all of whom loved him dearly.
A private burial ceremony will be on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton, N.C. at 2:30 p.m. The visitation will be at the home of his sister, Sadie Chavis, 307 Garden St., Pembroke, N.C.
