Wendelin Mellmer was born August 3, 1924 in Lefor, N.D. His family moved to Sacramento then to Roseville. He has resided in Roseville for 76 years.
He graduated from Roseville High School, then attended Healds College. During World War II, he worked at McClellan AFB. He then started working at the US Postal Service where he retired after 32 1/2 years.
He was an active member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He served 20 years of Liturgical Ministry at St. Rose and was also a past choir member. He was a charter member and past Grand Knight of Father Grealy Council No. 4540. He was also a member of Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services St. Rose Prayer Group.
He is survived by brother Andrew Mellmer, sister Agatha Collings and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 30 years, Katherine Sigurnik Mellmer, his parents Joseph and Elizabeth Mellmer, brother Nick Mellmer (Flo), sisters Katherine Reich (Edwin) and Adeline Scharosch (Philip).
A rosary will be recited at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses, 103 Lincoln Street in Roseville, Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 615 Vine Ave., Roseville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Monsignor Corcoran Tuition Fund and will be accepted at St. Rose School, 633 Vine Ave., Roseville, CA 95678.

Although I was sad to hear that Uncle Wendy had passed away, I'm glad to know that his suffering is over and he is at peace. My condolences to the Melmer family in your time of loss.

I haven't seen Wendy in years, but remember him fondly from my childhood. I spent wonderful times at his parents home and with his sister Aggie's family. I am sad to see so many of the wonderful people in our life leave us, but I thank them for the memories. Karen McVey Handley
