GARY F. HYSER, 61 BELVIDERE - Gary F. Hyser, 61, of Belvidere died Monday, April 14, 2014, after a long illness. Born August 18, 1952, to Glen and Mary (Stroup) Hyser. Married Mary Hatcher on July 4, 1986. U.S. Army veteran, serving during Viet Nam. Employed by Chrysler for 30 years, retiring in 2006. Later worked as a security guard for ABM. Lifetime member of VFW Post 1461. Survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary; his mother, Mary; daughters, Tina Schmarje and Lisa (Larry) Smith; son, Gordon (Lisa) Hyser; stepson, Michael Lewis; sisters, Carol (Lester) Hill and Diann Marshall; brother, Glenallen (Rose) Hyser; and special friend, John Mirus. Also survived by 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson and a second great-grandchild due in July. Predeceased by his father and an infant sister, Nancy. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, in the Chapel of Memories in Highland Garden of Memories, 9700 Route 76, Belvidere. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, in the Chapel of Memories. Private interment in Highland Garden of Memories. Highland Memorial Funeral Home is honored to have served this family.

Gary was a great guy. He always was there in any time that we needed. He will be missed more than words can say. Our girls will always remember him sharing his strawberry milk shakes. And his "don't tell your parents" treats.. I will miss his gfh inituals in his pies.
