Robert Childs Obituary
He was born May 23, 1953, in Springfield, the son of Priscilla "Perk" (Chandler) and Robert C. Childs Sr.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1971.
Mr. Childs was employed for many years as maintenance manager at Whitney Blake Co. in Bellows Falls.
He was a member of the Springfield Elks Club (BPOE #1560) where he enjoyed playing in the pool tournaments.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the Bellows Falls Country Club and played in local tournaments. He was known for his flower gardens, lawn mowing, and he also enjoyed cookouts, bonfires and playing horseshoes.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie L. (Jefts) Childs, whom he married June 20, 2011, their daughter, Falon Childs, and his mother, all of Springfield; two sisters, Cynthia Gagnier of Springfield and Ellen Currie of Baltimore, Vt.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Childs was predeceased by his father.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
The graveside service will be held at a later date in Plain Cemetery in Perkinsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Humane Society, 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156.
