Abbie Gorecki Obituary
She was born in Townshend on July 22, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Florence (Aiken) Nichols.
She received her GED in 1982.
On Nov. 19, 1983, she married Kaz Gorecki in Springfield. He died in 2008.
Mrs. Gorecki enjoyed York Beach in Maine.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Barber of Lady Lake, Fla., JoAnn Pelkey of Charlestown, N.H., and Susan Ferguson of Springfield; two sons, Dale Aiken and Neal Nichols of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Judy Matulonis of Springfield; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Lee, in 1942 and a brother, Ernest.
There will be no calling hours.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, and officiated by the Rev. John Martens of Chester.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield.

I just found out about Abbie through another obituary, that of her half brother, James Nichols, of Augusta, ME. That would make her my father's (Wayne Walker, Woodstock, VT) step sister. Sorry for your loss!

I worked with Abbie many years ago as a young girl at the Rockingham Hospital in Bellows Falls VT. She always had a smile, always pleasant and a gentle soul. She will be missed.

Many memories flood my mind of days gone by and picnics for Mothers Day, Birthdays, etc. on Spencer Hollow. It was a sweet time and one my family will always remember. Abbie was always charming and humorous and added a special sparkle by being there. Here's to you Abbie. May your wings fit just right and you find all those who have gone on before you waiting to give you a wonderful picnic celebration with love.
