Marilyn Brochu Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Marilyn Pat Alice Brochu, 85, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, at Sullivan County Nursing home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was born June 1, 1930, in Barre, the daughter of Madeline (Drew) and Alvin Smith.

Mrs. Brochu was employed at W.T. Grant department store and Sears Roebuck for more than 40 years. She was a lifetime resident, member of the Wednesday Nighters Women's Club and a participant in activities and trips of the Springfield Senior Center.

She enjoyed traveling, visiting Europe twice and visiting all 50 of the United States.

Mrs. Brochu is survived by her two sons, Ernest Brochu of Leesburg, Fla., and Donald Brochu of Weathersfield Bow; her sister, Gail Boardman of Weathersfield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Brochu, and her brother, Theodore "Teddy" Smith.

Visiting hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Oakland Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Springfield Elks Club.

Memorial donations may be made to Springfield Senior Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
